Happy New Year 2006

January 1, 2006

Greetings, all!

In case you slept through all the hubbub that accompanies the ringing in of a new year, 2005 is in the books and 2006 is here. Hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season, full of warmth, festivities, and good cheer.

Although you'd never know it from the lack of updates, we've got a number of things cooking here behind the scenes—everything from new artwork to potential comic book adaptations to movie news. Unfortunately, it seems everything is on the verge of happening, and not quite there yet. Hopefully, the new year will bring with it lots of exciting stuff.

One of the main reasons for this post (aside from proving that we haven't completely vanished into cyber air) was to allow Eldon to once again express his thanks to all of his supporters. Here it is, in his own words:

"Happy New Year!

2005 was a memorable year for me, for obvious reasons. And 2006 is shaping up to be even better. That being the case, now seems like a great time to look back with sincere thanks and admiration to everyone out there who helped to make my first foray into the world of publication such a gratifying experience. If I never receive another note of kind encouragement, those I have now will be reward enough. Everyone tells me this is a tough business, so to have been granted such an enthusiastic welcome—from readers and professionals alike—is rather overwhelming. I was doing this long before any business aspirations were involved, and will likely continue regardless of where such ventures lead. But it certainly feels better to be appreciated than disregarded. Perhaps someday I'll find a better way to repay those who have made possible or else cheered my efforts, but until then, again, my most humble thanks to each and every person who took the time to help me on my way.

More importantly, let me take this moment to wish everyone good health and great happiness in the coming year. And to those who are willing to work for it, may all your dreams come true."

That's all for now, but feel free to check back in the coming weeks for a summary, excerpt, and artwork for The Obsidian Key, along with news updates, answers to a few commonly asked questions, and maybe even some author trivia, provided we can pry Eldon away from his work on Book Three long enough to get him to lend a contributing hand.

Until then, good luck with those new year's resolutions, and have a wonderful 2006!
